About

Born out of a desire to see original, accessible art on the things we use every day, House of Morrissette features the work of Winnipeg artist Ken Morrissette.

Ken is an artist and longtime digital professional based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. His love of drawing started at a young age when he discovered comic books, and evolved as he continued to explore his talent for drawing offbeat artwork. He went on to study Fine Arts at the University of Manitoba before deciding that university wasn’t where he wanted to be. Instead, he and his brother opened a comic book store in Winnipeg’s St. Boniface neighbourhood, which they ran together for several years.

Eventually, the internet started changing the business of bricks-and-mortar retail. The brothers saw the writing on the wall, closed the shop and, perhaps somewhat ironically, Ken decided to learn how to build things for the internet instead (thanks to his brother, who was already a web developer).

He learned front-end web development and went on to spend more than 15 years working in web, digital experience and ecommerce. House of Morrissette brings those two sides of Ken’s life back together: the artist who never stopped drawing and the ecommerce guy who knows his way around an online store.

House of Morrissette is art first. Ken creates things that feel designed, rather than decorated, original artwork with some personality, thoughtfully paired with products people want to own. Expect work that’s a little offbeat, loose, graphic, bold lines, imperfect edges, and plenty of evidence that an actual human being drew it.

All artwork is original and created by Ken. Every illustration starts with Ken, not a prompt. Designs are created intentionally for the products they appear on, and collections are curated rather than putting his work on everything that can hold ink.

House of Morrissette products are made to order by carefully selected production partners and shipped directly to the customer. This allows us to offer a wider range of products without producing piles of inventory that may never find a home.

When Ken isn’t drawing, designing, or tinkering with House of Morrissette, he’s usually spending time with his family.
